A psychiatric clinic located near the Junction in Toronto, this project consisted of the addition of a mezzanine into a large commercial loft space with 18’ high ceilings. Challenges included structural work to bring all loads from the new mezzanine and new stair back to existing column and roof structure locations to avoid point loads on the structurally inadequate concrete floor. New staff kitchen and bathroom areas make use of a minimalist material palette of stainless steel, tile, glass and slate.
