Shanab House

(9)

The project involved the renovation and enlargement of a Victorian row house in the east end of Toronto. The design employs open space planning and a matter of fact use of materials providing ample space, generous natural day-lighting, and crisp exterior detailing on a narrow inner urban site. Key elements of the work include custom wood windows and millwork, cement board cladding applied in bands of varying width, and a custom office unit inserted into the center of the house with structural steel framing on the 2nd and 3rd floor supporting a bridge to access the roof deck, which incorporates a wet bar for exterior entertaining.
